IMPORTANCE OF EXERCISE TO WELL-BEING

It is well known that elevated cholesterol and especially elevated LDL cholesterol is the major cause of cardiovascular diseases. Regular physical activity is clearly associated with reductions in the risk of these diseases.

Physical activity stimulates mechanisms in the body that are found to lead to decreased serum levels of cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. Those mechanisms include enzymes degrading cholesterol and its metabolites.

Recent recommendations about the amount and intensity of exercise that has beneficial effects are not accurate enough to achieve significant reductions in serum cholesterol levels. The newly developed cholesterol exercise monitor will register accurately the type and amount of exercise known to decrease serum cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels. The recommended exercise includes pole walking, jumping and aerobics. Plain walking does not appear to be good.

The new Cholesterol Health also tells the daily or weekly amount of exercise and shows if the exercise has not been sufficient. By this way our cholesterol meter guides us to right cholesterol-lowering exercise.
