Newtest Oy Developed a Personal Bone Exercise Monitor
news written at October 11, 2005
Newtest Oy, a Finnish fitness technology company, will launch a bone exercise monitor. With the Newtest Bone Exercise Monitor™, the bone-strengthening power of exercise can be measured individually and with ease. The monitor lends itself for use by all fitness enthusiasts who want to prevent the embrittling of bones and ensure the quality of their daily and weekly bone exercise.
Osteoporosis can already be considered a national disease in Finland - more than 400,000 Finns suffer from it. Osteoporosis can be prevented through exercise, which must affect the bones in particular. The Newtest Bone Exercise Monitor™ shows the user whether the exercise is of the right type and strengthens the bones.
Small enough to be carried on the waist, the Newtest Bone Exercise Monitor™ keeps track of the user's daily exercise and immediately analyses it. The device can be used all the time. With it, the user can monitor everyday physical activity and fitness and health exercises. The monitor shows how many per cent of the daily and weekly bone exercise the user has already completed.
Newtest is also a new tool for physicians, physiotherapists and exercise instructors, facilitating the drawing up of bone exercise instructions and ensuring easier guidance and better motivation. With the monitor, it is possible to keep an eye on reaching bone exercise targets and ensure the actual impact of the exercise.
Newtest is a globally unique device for measuring the effectiveness of bone exercise. It is based on Newtest Oy's innovative, patented invention secured through an internationally prize-winning survey that the company conducted with the University of Oulu's Faculty of Medicine and Oulu Deaconess Institute (Vainionpää Aki, Young Scientist Award, European Calcified Tissue Society (ECTS), Nice and Jämsä Timo, Clinical Biomechanics Award 2004, European Society for Biomechanics).
Newtest Bone Exercise Monitor™ is available e.g. in major sports stores, pharmacies, health food stores and Stockmann department stores. The product is available since 1st November 2005 at the recommended price 129 euros. For trade and individual enquiries from outside Finland, contact Newtest directly.
